What international laws does Iran claim were violated?

In an earlier post on X, Abbas Araghchi expressed that U.S. strikes on the country’s nuclear sites were a “grave violation” of international law and warned of “everlasting consequences” in reaction to the attacks.

“The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,”

Araghchi also said.

“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,”

he noted, mentioning the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Iranian foreign minister also called on UN members to denounce what he characterised as “extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behaviour” by the US.

“In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defence, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people,”

Araghchi stated.
